The Maui International Paddleboard Race

The Maui International paddleboard race ran this Sunday and was a success. There were over 100 contestants racing in stand-up and paddleboard racing event. The event started at Maliko Gulch and finished at Kahului Harbor. Smoking every one in the paddleboard event was Australia’s Jamie Mitchell who is the top paddleboard racer in the world. Finishing first in stand-up was Dave Kalama a well-known Maui local boy.
There were also some other not so famous contenders, 14yr old Talia Gangini who smoke a lot of the boys in stand-up. Her father John Gangini was the event organizer and also finished 4th in his event. Awards were handed out at the dinner with over 400 people attending. Micah Nickens from Nickens Team, NickensMaui.com was on water patrol for the event.
