Okay Jet Fuel is going up!
Hawaiian Airlines is going to increase inter island passenger fares to keep up with the increase in fuel. I heard on the radio today that jet fuel cost around $7.50 per gallon and jets can hold up to 35,000 gallons. With Aloha Airlines out of business this has put a strain on shipping and the number of seats available. A couple of weeks ago I flew to Oahu and was surprise to see that Hawaiian Airlines was using there mainland jets to provide more seats.
Hawaiian will also be charging $25 charge on domestic flights for 2nd luggage. This is becoming a trend with a lot of other airlines. So much for carrying a surfboard to the mainland. So we will all have to adjust with flying just as we are with our driving. The need to be more efficient with our vehicles is a must. I just bought a 4 cylinder Toyota truck and it’s great for trips to the beach and hauling the dogs. When its time to fly you can bet I will be searching the internet for the best rates to fly. So we are looking at new challenges and we just need to adjust the way we are use to doing things on Maui
