Maui Fuel Prices Going Up!

To drive or not to drive gas guzzlers?

Europe has long ago had to figure out how to adjust to high gas prices. Their cars are smaller and run on diesel. In Italy a lot of people use mopeds to get around. We have to be thinking how we can adjust to this current gas price increases because they are not going back to prices as we know it. On Maui we are currently paying $4.25 and I bet it will be $5 by middle summer.
So what are our choices? I heard Nissan is coming out with an electric car in two years. My second car I down size to a 4 cylinder Toyota to off set gas prices. I saw an interesting show on 20/20 months back that you can make ethanol in your backyard. The process is very similar to moonshine. So what creative ways are you dealing with rising fuel prices? So do we trade in our 16 to 18 miles per gallon cars for a more fuel efficient automobiles? As Realtors we are on the road a lot showing property and taking care of business.
