Vog On The Big Island of Hawaii
The Big Island of Hawaii has a real problem with toxic gas spewing out of the volcano. We call it Vog or volcanic smog or some might call it a pain to breath. Kilauea volcano has been spewing toxic gas. Problem is it affects local crops in the area and farmers are losing crops. So breathing the fumes can be a health hazard to some.
Local residents are use to the vog, but the problem is there is a new vent that is closer inland than the Puu Oo mountain side. The Puu Oo vent usually blows out to sea. This new vent affects more farms inland and is harming the crops. So hopefully the volcano will settle down as it does sometimes and people on the Big Island can get on with there lives.
When the southerly winds blow we will receive some of the vog as well as Oahu. As a whole I don’t think this affects Maui, that much. People here are use to the sugar cane burning which is similar. As far as today goes it is a beautiful day on Maui, skies area clear and life is good.
