Happy Thanksgiving to all from Maui


Thanksgiving is a sign of winter is here in the islands. We have a big college football game coming up with the UH Warriors vs. Idaho. Hawaii is undefeated so this going to be a big game for Hawaii. Then on the North shore of Oahu we have the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing. The first event is under way at Haleiwa sponcer by Reef with 6 to 10 ft pounding surf. This represents the end of the season of pro surfing wrapping up in Hawaii. The next event moves to Sunset Beach. There is Hugh swells coming in so this is going to be pretty exciting. Next the last jewel of the event is at world famous Pipeline. You will see the best surfers in the world competing for the Pipe Title and over all winner of the Van’s Triple Crown of surfing. Pipe is an amazing wave to watch at 10 to 15 ft. Micah has put his time in at big back door at Pipeline. That is where he developed his tube riding skills.
On Maui the surf is Hugh and a little rough. Micah has been out tuning up his Jet Ski towing in at Spreckelsville and outer Kanaha to get tune up for action at World Famous Jaws. Micah and his friends joined with a very international group of pros and big wave chargers are looking at Friday for a really good day at Jaws. I really enjoy the safety of watching it from the cliffs. It can get really Hugh and scary. Micah tells me I am out there this winter, but I think I will pass on Jaws.
I love Thanksgiving Day. It will be a little windy, a good day to kick back with the family. North winds have been blowing so there is a little chill in the air. I already took my mountain bike out to burn some carlories before turkey dinner. So on Maui north shore it is an awesome place to live.
