Lucky We Live Maui
I was sitting at Piñata’s Mexican food one of my favorite places to eat. Did I mention to try their soft tacos and black beans? I just finished windsurfing and I was having lunch with my wife and talking to a friend. He told me that after all these years he was moving to Washington State. Another friend of mine just moved to Colorado at 8000 elevations to get close to nature. So I ask myself am I missing something?
Then I reflected on earlier in the day windsurfing at Kanaha. I met a New Zealander who was rigging up next to me. I mention that I thought New Zealand must be a beautiful place. His response was, it is very cold right now and warm tropical weather and good windsurfing condition are okay with him.
I also reflected on my friend John Sanford from England that just went home after three months of sailing. I asked John being a world traveler and sailor. John where are your favorite places in the world. He told me Steve; it’s right here on Maui, look no further.
So as I was rigging my sail at Kanaha, Francisco Goya came over to give me a 15-minute tune up on my rig. A little tighter down hauling, create a little more belly in the sail for lower power and I was looking good. Oh by the way if you are in need off cutting edge windsurfing products check out Francisco and Lalo at www.goyasails.com they are really nice guys. So I was set and had a great sail, you meet a lot of really cool people at Kanaha from all over the world. So I thought as I was eating my tacos, I am really blessed to live on Maui all these years. It’s a good place to raise a family, work, play and do life. My conclusion was I will miss my friends, but as they say Lucky we live Maui.
Aloha,
Steve
