Hawaii Supreme Court rules against Superferry

So it seems it is not smooth saling for the New Super Ferry. Thursday the Hawaii Supreme court ruled unanimously that the state was wrong to bypass an environmental impact study fort Kahului Harbor. The Sierra Club and Maui Tomorrow won a judgment against the superFerry for not getting proper environmental impact studies. So it seem that state law prohibits the ferries form entering into service at harbors with out an environmental study on the affects with traffic, foreign species and impact on the humpback whales. So we will see if the ship sails on Sept 28th. I have been talking to people about the pros and cons of sailing on the super ferry compared to flying. I think it will be great to drive your car from island to island. If I look at the cost and time per person, I think I am going to fly. Time will tell and we will see how they make out with the courts. Remember the hydrofoil ferry in the 80’s. We will see how it all pans out.
